Get To Know Me

Hi! My name is AG. It stands for Awesome Guy. You can't forget a Guy named "Awesome".

I have lived in North Carolina all my life but have been fortunate enough to have visited 42 states. I moved to Raleigh to attend school at NC State University in 2008. Go Wolfpack! I have a passion for problem-solving and finding a great glass of chocolate milk.

This site represents my final project for fulfillment of Masters Degree in Parks, Recreation, Tourism, and Sport Management with a certificate in Sport and Entertainment Venue Management. My undergraduate degree is in Program Management and a minor in Health and Wellness but have professional interests in marketing, social media management, and anything that involves helping people.

When given a task, whether familiar or not, I love to set goals and find solutions in the most efficient way. I love looking at things from a large scale, but also am a stickler for details being correct. If your work shows attention to detail, you've made it special for at least one person.

When I am not working, I love exploring the local greenways and parks in the central NC area. Before I took many of the Parks and Recreation classes in my major, I was not aware of all the local trails and parks in the area. I often run the trails and bike when the weather permits. In 2015, I trained for and completed the Trifecta of Reebok Spartan Races at distances of 5, 8, and 15 miles. Those races were some of my favorite athletic experiences! In April of 2016, I completed my first half marathon at Disney World in Florida. The theme was the Dark Side of Star Wars and I ran as Boba Fett. In 2017, I traveled to Bar Harbor, Maine for the only half-marathon that runs through a National Park (Acadia!).  In 2018, I traveled back to a familiar course outside of Seattle, WA to run the "Beat the Blerch" Half Marathon hosted by the creator of TheOatmeal.com (hilarious comic). I completed my first triathon in 2019. The training for that was intense and exciting! In 2020, I ran a virtual half marathon with a Disney villian theme. I was Hercules being chased by Hades. And my major running accomplishment was running the virtual Boston Marathon - I just wanted the unicorn medal.

I also enjoy kayaking and visiting the Asheville and Brevard areas to take in the mountain air!

A recent sport of interest is Pickleball. More info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pickleball  It's addicting! Easy to learn, takes a lifetime to master.

I am a huge Durham Bulls baseball fan and try every season to acquire each player's signature on my baseball wall. I built a home plate-shaped baseball holder in 2012 with a friend's dad that has now become the home to many baseballs that represent memorable games spent with my family and friends.

Best things to know about me:

  • When I have an idea, I try my best to follow through on it, no matter how large or small

  • My favorite foods are waffles and chocolate milk

  • I have a passion for helping others and will do what I can with the tools I am given to assist

  • I think approaching every situation with enthusiasm is the key to making the best it can be
